ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

Ellen Chestnut has been with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR), since 1998.  Previous to joining OCR, Ellen litigated in the areas of Special Education, Employment Discrimination, Guardianship, Social Security, and Labor and Disability Law in the hospital and penal setting.  Ellen is a certified Mediator and conducts complex mediations at OCR. 

Catherine Fawley has been an attorney with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in Seattle since 2003.  Prior to joining OCR, Catherine worked as an attorney for the Washington State Public Employment Relations Commission and as counsel to the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C.  Catherine graduated from the University of Michigan and Wake Forest University School of Law.
