Bi/Multicultural and Multilingual Outreach Specialist Job Announcement
As a Bi/Multicultural and Multilingual Outreach Specialist for the Parent-to-Parent Program you will serve as a crucial link in ensuring that parents of children with an intellectual/developmental disability (IDD) from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds receive the guidance and resources they need for their child and family. This role requires empathy, cultural competence, and effective communication to foster positive relationships and a more inclusive environment within the parent community. The Bi/Multilingual Outreach Specialist primarily assists the Parent to Parent (P2P) program and all other programs of PAVE, as needed providing support, training, information, and resources within Pierce County.
PAVE will provide extensive training for candidates that demonstrate essential skills and offer lived experience. Military spouses in/out of WA, persons of color, and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Provide support and assistance so that children/youth, parents/guardians/caregivers, family members, and professionals obtain support, training, information, and resources relevant to Pierce County.
- Provide facilitation of support or peer affinity groups to share, exchange, and support one another via in-person and/or online throughout Pierce County.
- Able to offer training in addition to one-to-one support and utilize a trauma-informed approach.
- A willingness to learn or an aptitude for representing, staffing a PAVE booth, and communicating information, and resources at various community events throughout Pierce County.
- Effectively utilize technology daily to perform all job duties and PAVE’s data management system.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires high school diploma or GED and one year of direct work experience in providing support, training, information, and resources.
- Demonstrated work experience providing one-to-one customer service.
- Demonstrated experience in providing presentations/training for large and small groups.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated data entry.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Pass a Background Check (DSHS/DDA Secretary’s List)
- Proof of being up to date on both flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are required. Individuals with medical issues or religious beliefs or practices that prevent them from getting the vaccine may request an exemption from the vaccine requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AA Degree and two or more years of providing customer service support, writing, and using technology in the disability community.
- Demonstrated knowledge of information and resources as it relates to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Proficient and/or resourceful in finding and sharing information and resources for residents of Pierce County.
- Experience and/or employment utilizing trauma informed knowledge in supporting and training adult learners.
- Fluent in one or more language, in addition to English.
- Experienced in data entry utilizing Salesforce; training is provided upon hiring.
Salary Range: $21.50-24/hour DOE for this full-time (40-hours/week) position with benefits.
