Parent Resource Coordinator – Job Announcement

As a Parent Resource Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the lives of children and youth with disabilities by providing support, training, information, and resources to them and their parents/guardians, and professionals to navigate WA’s education systems Your primary responsibility will be for all birth to age 26, connecting one-to-one, presenting trainings, helping to write and/or edit articles, engaging in community events, and developing resources with your team.  Proactive community collaboration with organizations, schools, and other stakeholders are an essential to enhance the reach and impact of PAVEs mission and the services of its programs. This position does include in-state, and, depending on your qualifications, may include national and overseas travel for the Department of Defense.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Provide support and assistance so that parents, caregivers, youth, and family members obtain information and resources to make choices and advocate for their educational needs. 
  • Provide presentations and workshops in-person, via webinars and/or low-tech conference calls for parents, youth, and other professionals. 
  • Attend and/or coordinate resource fairs with local partners. 
  • Provide virtual and in-seat workshops for the Specialized Training of Military Parents (STOMP).  This includes travel in the US and overseas, some evenings and weekend days to arrive/return from workshops. When traveling, STOMP Instructors typically provide two 2-Day workshops in a week and an average of one weeklong trip per month. 
  • Write articles and assist with training materials as needed.  
  • Effectively utilize technology daily to perform all job duties and PAVE’s data management system.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires high school diploma or GED and one year of direct work experience in providing support, training, information, and resources.
  • Demonstrated work experience providing one-to-one customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing presentations/trainings for large and small groups. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated data entry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
  • Valid Washington Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must have valid identification to travel in the United States, a Military ID, State issued driver’s license and the ability to travel outside the state and or country. *
  • Flexibility and reliability to meet the contract’s travel to provide trainings.
  • Proven facilitation abilities.
  • Pass a Background Check (DSHS/DDA Secretary’s List)
  • Proof of being up to date on both flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are required.  Individuals with medical issues or religious beliefs or practices that prevent them from getting the vaccine may request an exemption from the vaccine requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AA Degree and two or more years of direct work experience in providing support, training, information, and resources in the disability community.
  • Experience and/or employment utilizing a trauma informed knowledge in supporting and training of adult learners.
  • Prior history in providing presentations/training for large and small groups, in-person, and virtually and within in a human service not-for-profit business.
  • Reside in WA, CA, VA, DC, MD, CO, TX, or IL.
  • Understanding of special education laws for both Department of Education (DOE) systems and Department of Defense (DOD) Systems
  • Knowledge of military systems, TRICARE and DODEA.
  • Personal experience within the military system with your child who has a disability.
  • Understanding of the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) for the different Branches of the Service.
  • Experienced in data entry utilizing Salesforce; training is provided upon hiring.

*NOTE: All costs to travel are paid by PAVE (e.g. airfare, accommodations, car rental, per diem for meals while working, etc.).

Salary Range: $22 – $24/hour DOQ

PAVE is hiring at least 1, possibly 2 new employees. Comprised of 1 Full-time employee (40- hours/week) or 2 Part-time employees (20-hours/week) both with benefits DOQ.
