Seattle – UW IHDD Research Day

The 1st annual University of Washington IHDD Research Day will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023. This is a celebration of researchers from across the IHDD, including the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) and University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), and is aimed to promote and foster collaboration across the institute.

World Down Syndrome Day Dance Party

Sharing Down Syndrome in Pierce County is inviting you to a FREE World Down Syndrome Day Dance Party!

Bust out those fancy duds and crazy socks, show your DS Pride in yellow and blue, and come dance with us to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day!

DOOR PRIZES! BUDDY BINGO! DANCING!

This is a family event, parents and adults are expected to stay and provide necessary supervision. There will not be staff to support or supervise individuals.

Online – Down Syndrome Moms Night In

Spend an hour with other moms who get it. Our experiences and lives are unique, unto themselves! Come put your feet up and chat a bit! This group meets online the 2nd Friday of each month.

Online – Black/African American Family Support Group

This group is for Black/African American families to come together as a cultural community to support one another as parents/caregivers of children, youth, adults and individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Come talk to other parents who get it.

Some of the topics on our agenda:

  • Sensory Processing Disorder & hair maintenance
  • Overcoming Cultural biases and stigmas
  • Parenting in public (overcoming behavior challenges & public opinions)

4th Thursday of each month from 7-8pm! Drop in and say hi!
