Job Announcement: Parent Resource Coordinator (2) Positions Available

Location: The two (2)* full-time positions are 100% remote, offer a flexible schedule, statewide services, and require travel and in-person meetings, resource fairs, conferences, etc.

As a Parent Resource Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting children and youth (birth to age 26) with disabilities, parents/guardians, families and professionals. Your primary responsibility will be navigating special education and healthcare systems in WA for their development, education, career and college readiness, and a meaningful life. You will provide one-to-one support, small group training, and collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders. 

Some of What You Will Be Doing/Skills Used:

  • Provide support and assistance of parents/guardians, families members and professionals so that children/youth develop, learn, and know their rights and responsibilities with the special education and healthcare systems. 
  • Provide presentations and trainings/workshops in-person, via webinars, and/or low-tech conference calls for parents, youth, and other professionals.
  • Research of topics, writing, editing, and/or assisting with training materials a plus.  
  • Effectively utilize technology daily to perform all job duties and PAVE’s data management tool.  
  • Utilize research, writing, and/or editing skills to create, update, and/or collaborate on information to be available on the website.
  • Attend and/or represent PAVE periodically in-person (e.g., meetings, resource fairs conferences, etc.).*
  • Maintain confidentiality of families, individuals, and other staff members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires high school diploma and one year of direct work experience in providing support, training, information, and resources.

OR

  • GED and one year of direct work experience in providing support, training, information, and resources.

AND

  • Demonstrated experience in working independently to perform essential job responsibilities and on a team.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing support, information, and/or resources to or with “customers”.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related technology.
  • Demonstrated data entry within a database.
  • Interest and/or prior experience in training or presentation for large and/or small groups.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Reside in WA State.
  • Ability to pass a Background Check, if offered a position (DSHS/DDA Secretary’s List )

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AA Degree and two or more years of direct work experience in providing support, training, information, and resources in the disability community.
  • Experience and/or employment with a trauma informed lens as it relates to support and training of adult learners.
  • Spanish-English bilingualism.
  • Understanding of special education laws for both Department of Education (DOE) systems and Department of Defense (DOD) Systems.
  • Knowledge of military systems, TRICARE and DODEA.
  • Have a valid Military ID, State issued identification card, and the ability to travel within the state.*
  • Understanding of the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) for the different Branches of the Service.

Salary Range: $47,850- $51,480 annually
