Job Description: Parent Resource Coordinator (PRC)

Reports to: PTI Director

Position Summary: The Parent Resource Coordinator (PRC) supports individuals’ birth to age 26 with disabilities and/or complex medical needs, their parents/guardians, families and professionals in the special education system to grow their knowledge and skills.  To accomplish this the PRC obtains, expands, and continuously improves their knowledge and training abilities to include Early Intervention, Special Education, and career and college readiness and the various systems. The PRC provides one-to-one support, training, information and resources, as needed. For systems change PRCs facilitate partnerships by representing the PTI by attending meetings, coalitions, councils, etc.locally, regionally, and statewide.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one support also referred to as technical assistance (TA), training, information and resources, as needed for individuals’ birth to age 26 with disabilities and/or complex medical needs and their parents/guardians, families and professionals.
  • Support, train, and offer information and resources so that all learn, grow, and enhance their skills by knowing their rights as they navigate school and healthcare systems to achieve “their employment and independent living goals.” [See U.S. DOE ALN 84.235]
  • Ongoing learning of the priority topics for parent centers** as outlined by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) a the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). Ongoing training and learning opportunities are available with the Center for Parent Information Resource (CIPR) and the RAISE Center.
  • Effectively utilize technology daily to perform all responsibilities (e.g. Microsoft 0365, OneDrive, Teams, PAVE proprietary database, Zoom, etc.).
  • Assist with the creation and dissemination of all marketing materials (i.e., emails, flyers, social media posts, etc.) as needed assuring PAVE’s Branding Guidelines.
  • Partner to create, update presentation content and/or offer independently or with colleagues small group workshops that are virtual, in-person and/or hybrid.
  • Utilize research, writing, and/or editing skills to create, update, and/or collaborate on information to be available on the website.
  • Identify, collaborate and strategize with team members how to effectively meet and exceed when possible the PTI’s grant goals (e.g. ideas for connecting with underserved populations, professional partnerships, rural WA, etc.).
  • Attend and/or coordinate resource fairs with local partners.
  • Support your continuous improvement with PAVE’s policies and practices (e.g., Confidentiality, HIPPA compliance, Unauthorized Practice of the Law (UPL), Communication/Resource Fairs, Personnel Handbook, etc.)

Job Requirements for all Staff:

  • Maintain confidentiality of families and other staff members.
  • Be prompt in arriving at work site, meetings, and workshops.
  • Submitting accurate time sheets daily is preferred and at least weekly to include notes of the work you performed and/or accomplished.
  • Attend and participate in shared facilitation of staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Assure your schedule is up to date on the Shared Calendar.
  • Assist all colleagues in meeting timelines.
